On Friday (04/01/2022), which was my final day of observation, I listened to 30 minutes of jazz improvisation to improve my creativity. Jazz improvisation requires lots of creativity because jazz musicians must take the knowledge they have of music theory and their creative skills to make up music on the spot that must fit certain cords and tempos. I have always found this to be a very challenging activity, so I thought listening it could help boost my creativity. Luckily creativity can be improved and worked on if you spend time doing creative activities. There is more information on the connection between jazz music and creative skills on https://www.kqed.org/mindshift/34944/the-link-between-jazz-improvisation-and-student-creativity. I documented this by taking a screenshot of the jazz improv track I chose to listen to. I feel that throughout this process I would've benefitted more from these if they were activities I did regularly. I do believe that if I implement these activities into my everyday life they could make a difference on my chances of getting the internship I want and also at succeeding in it. Some of the activities I think would have a bigger chance of impact on me if they were implemented consistently like the reading, journaling, and music listening. Overall I do believe the most effective and challenging activity I did this past week was creative drawing, though I felt all of the activities helped in their own ways/degrees.
