My Character Strengths and Weaknesses:

For this blog post I took a online survey through VIA to find out what my character strengths and weaknesses are. I highly recommend taking their quiz, it was fast and easy and very informative. This exercise was much more helpful to me than I realized because I have a hard time differentiating what I want to be good at and what I really am good at, or giving myself credit for being good at things in general. This was very eye opening for me on what things I have lots of room to improve on and how those can affect my life. My top five strengths in order from 1-5 included kindness, love, honesty, fairness, prudence. I believe that most of the strengths are not things I've earned or worked on, but things that I have learned from a young age and come easy to me. I do think these are pretty accurate in my everyday life. My bottom 5 strengths or my weaknesses included creativity, humility, perseverance, self-regulation, and zest. I do think that most of these are accurate. I know I am not a creative person and that is something I have personally accepted over the years so I find this one especially accurate. I also know I struggle with self-regulation and zest, though I do believe I am getting better with self-regulatioyn and creating better habits for myself, but this may be something I will always have to work at because it does not come natural to me. Along with zest, I am not a morning person at all and cannot find zest in my life unless I've done something to cause it. I do think I have some perservance though. I don't always succeed or get through things, but I won't ever give up on things either. It is something I will be working at more from now on though because I believe there is a lot of truth in this survey. I think my strengths do reflect who I want to be as a person towards others, but my weaknesses show me how I need to improve for myself. If you're looking for a wake-up call, or want to see how you are doing with improving yourself I'd recommend taking this survey and maybe taking it again a year later to see if your results have changed favorably, that is what I plan to do.
